Tracking software usage and AMP

EMC Documentum provides an application for software usage reporting. The primary reporting tool, EMC Asset Management & Planning (AMP) is a virtual appliance that provides the ability to track deployed software assets and generate online and graphical reports based on the collected data. The AMP configuration and usage monitoring policies are completed through a browser interface. However, all data is contained behind the firewall of the customer to help prevent third-party access to the data. Additionally, a single instance of AMP has the ability to access multiple global registries to provide a collated view of software usage in the customer environment. This aggregated and confidential view into current usage trends allows optimizing capacity planning and asset management strategies. The usage reports, or raw data, provided in AMP can be exported if additional analysis, graphical reports or retention is needed.

The EMC Asset Management & Planning (AMP) User Guide provides information about obtaining, installing, and configuring AMP for Content Server and other EMC products. AMP and Usage Tracking, provides more details about AMP.

If AMP is not installed, Content Server only provides basic report for the system administrator. For more information, refer to Usage tracking (dm_usageReport).
